A pending authorization is not necessarily a completed charge. A refund is not necessarily available as soon as a merchant issues it. Use the actual history and card-specific support to establish what happened.

How to Review GiftCardMall Transactions
Start at the cardholder destination printed on your card or carrier. If it directs you to MyGift, use that service and follow its instructions to view the information available for your program. We do not have access to your history and do not offer a transaction lookup.
Compare entries privately with your receipts and order confirmations. Look at the merchant description, date, amount and any displayed status. If the screen provides a date filter, check that it includes the period you need. Keep sensitive account views off public forums and do not send them to our editorial contact.
Available Balance vs Transaction History
Available balance answers how much the service currently reports as available to spend. Transaction history records activity and may distinguish between pending and posted entries. They describe related information, but a list of completed purchases alone may not explain the current available amount.
For illustration, a card with $75 before a purchase and a $20 pending authorization may show $55 available while that purchase is not yet posted. Do not subtract both a pending authorization and its eventual posted version as if they are automatically two separate purchases. If the relationship is unclear, ask the service to explain the entries.
What Does a Pending Transaction Mean?
A pending entry generally indicates an authorization that has not yet become a final posted transaction. It may be associated with a purchase still being completed or reconciled. The word “pending” alone does not tell you exactly when it will post, change or be released.
Check whether you recognize the merchant and attempted purchase. If an online checkout failed but there is a related pending entry, verify the order status with the merchant before trying again. If the entry is unfamiliar, use cardholder services promptly rather than waiting for a status change to decide whether it matters.
GiftCardMall Authorization Holds
An authorization can reserve funds for a transaction. Depending on the merchant and purchase, the amount authorized may differ from the eventual final amount. This can affect what remains available for other purchases while the authorization is outstanding.
Do not assume one fixed hold amount or release period applies to all GiftCardMall-branded cards. Ask the merchant what amount it requested and whether it finalized or canceled the purchase. Ask cardholder services how the authorization affects your card. Our guide describes the concepts; it cannot release a hold or see the merchant’s message.
Why Available Balance Can Temporarily Drop
A new authorization can reduce spending availability even before a completed purchase appears. More than one attempt may also leave a history that is difficult to interpret without the merchant’s order records. A drop is a reason to review the details, not proof of a duplicate final charge.
Stop and reconcile the activity before making more attempts. Match the entries to purchases you recognize and ask about any uncertain relationship between pending and posted amounts. If the lower balance is making a new purchase fail, return to the declined-card guide with the current available amount in mind.
GiftCardMall Refunds
A refund relates to a purchase already completed. The merchant’s refund confirmation and the card’s available balance may update at different stages of the process. Retain the return receipt or refund confirmation and ask the merchant how it submitted the credit.
Do not discard the card simply because the purchase balance was spent. If a return is in progress, the original card and its records may be relevant to tracing the credit. Follow the merchant’s return policy and the applicable card agreement rather than assuming a refund will be paid in cash or transferred to another card.
If the merchant confirms a refund but it remains absent, ask for the non-sensitive reference information needed by the card’s service. The applicable processing time comes from the merchant and card program. We do not promise a universal number of business days or guarantee that a refund is already spendable.
Transaction Missing From Your History
Confirm that you are looking at the correct card privately and that any available date range includes the purchase. Check the merchant’s confirmation to determine whether an order was actually placed. A missing history entry alone does not tell you whether a merchant completed a sale.
If the merchant confirms an order and the official history remains unclear, ask the merchant and cardholder service to clarify the transaction status. Do not try to recreate the missing record by making another purchase. If the whole history page is unavailable, treat that as a website-access issue first.
Transaction You Don't Recognize
A merchant’s displayed description may be unfamiliar even when a purchase is yours, so compare it with recent receipts. That check should be brief and private. If you still do not recognize the activity, contact cardholder services promptly through the printed support details.
Tell the legitimate service when you noticed the entry and whether you may have exposed the card details. Follow its process for investigation. This site cannot determine whether a transaction is fraudulent, block further spending or file an account dispute. Do not send us the card or its transaction screenshots.
Balance Changed but Transaction Is Missing
Avoid assuming that the absence of a matching visible entry proves the balance is incorrect. Check whether the page distinguishes available funds from posted activity and whether a pending section or different date range is relevant. Record your observation privately without repeatedly refreshing or re-entering credentials.
If the difference remains unexplained, contact cardholder services. Ask it to reconcile the available balance with the entries you can see. It can inspect account-specific records that this guide cannot access. If the discrepancy involves a purchase you never made, say that explicitly so the service can direct the issue appropriately.
When to Contact Cardholder Services
Contact the designated service for unfamiliar activity, a persistent unexplained balance difference, a refund that needs tracing under the applicable process, or a hold whose status the merchant cannot clarify. For an order cancellation or return itself, the merchant is also an important source of information.
Keep a simple private timeline of the purchase, cancellation or refund, and any conversations with the merchant. Ask for a case reference when the service provides one. Do not rely on an arbitrary waiting period from another card program, and do not share verification information with this informational site.
GiftCardMall Transactions Questions
Is a pending charge the same as a posted purchase?
No. A pending authorization has not necessarily become a final completed transaction. Compare its status with the merchant’s order information and ask cardholder services if the relationship is unclear.
When will a hold disappear?
There is no universal period verified for every card covered by this guide. Ask the merchant and your card’s service for the timing and process applicable to the actual authorization.
Will a reversal show as a refund?
Not necessarily. Releasing or canceling an authorization and crediting a completed purchase are different processes. Ask the card’s service how each appears in your history.
